Boston Terriers are intelligent, affectionate, loyal, and an extraordinary companion dog. This breed was originally bred in Boston, Massachusetts in 1893 and for the first half of the 20th century, they accounted for the largest number of AKC registrations of any breed. This breed has been described as being gentle with children, clean, and easy to please and train. They only require moderate exercise and minimal grooming. These dogs are usually quiet and well mannered. Boston Terriers are meant to be inside pets and would not fair well for outdoor living. With that said they should be allowed to relieve themselves at least four times a day after reaching adulthood. It is in their nature to want to please their human family so they require a decent amount of companionship. A well cared for Boston Terrier will maintain good health and should live to be 11-13 years old.
